Replacement of Power Lines

Date: 10th August 2017

National Grid have informed us that they have had to stop work on the replacement of the power lines along the Silk Road due to damage to an underground cable in Stockport. The Macclesfield to Bredbury line will need to be kept powered until the damaged cable has been repaired. This precaution will ensure that local electricity supplies are kept secure. National Grid is preparing a full press release and letters which will go out probably on Monday.

National Grid is very sorry about this and the disruption that this will cause. Some preparatory work has already been completed and a new "start" date and duration of the work will be communicated soon. They are very aware of the traffic queue caused during the current closure and will be discussing any action which can be taken to minimise it.
