Silk Road & Clarke Lane Closure for Overhead Cable replacement - latest
This is the latest information we have received from National Grid about the forthcoming closures of the Silk Road while the overhead cables are replaced.
- So that we can work safely on the part of the line that runs through central Macclesfield the Council have given us permission to close the Silk Road for a few days. We will be closing the road between the roundabout at the junction with Hulley Road and the roundabout at the junction with Bollington Road. The road will be closed between the 4th and 13th August. A diversion route will be sign posted. The closure and the diversion route is shown on the enclosed map. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but there is no other way to complete the work we need to do safely without the closure.
- We also need to close Clarke Lane. This is to allow us to work safely on and around the pylon that is next to the lane. It will be closed to all through traffic from 31st July to 24th August from the junction of Clarke Lane and the B5090. Access to homes on Clarke Lane will not be affected. There will be a signed diversion route through Bollington. The closure and the diversion route is shown on the enclosed map. Businesses on Clarke Lane will be open as usual. Again, we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but there is no other way to complete the work we need to do safely without the closure.
There will be no planned power cuts due to this work.If you would like to talk to us about this you can call our community relations team on 0800 819 9071 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
