2023 Civic Awards Nomination
Every day in Bollington people who care about our community make a positive and worthwhile contribution which affects the lives of others. Sometimes these acts go unrecognised but this can be remedied by nominating those people for a Civic Award.
The awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Civic Sunday Service on Sunday 24th September.
Award Categories
Bollington Civic Award
To qualify for the Bollington Civic Award, the nominee must have made a significant contribution and a difference to the residents of Bollington by showing outstanding service for the benefit of the community, on a voluntary basis.
Mayor’s Commendations
Youth Commendation
Recognises a young person (under 18 years of age) who has made a significant, positive contribution to the community by helping others or striving to improve their town.
Adult Volunteering in Youth Services
Recognises a person who has devoted themselves to volunteering in one or many Bollington youth groups.
Bollington Based Business
Recognises a business that has engaged and contributed to the community.
Mayor’s Commendation for Services to the Community
Recognises a person who has made an outstanding contribution to Bollington.
Long Service in the Community
Recognises a person’s commitment to the community over a significant period of time (over 10 years).
Nominations

Please don’t tell the person that you are nominating that you are doing so.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 28th July at 5pm.
Award Presentation 2023
Town Mayor for 2023-2024, Councillor Helen Ellwood, presented Civic Awards and Mayor’s Commendations at her Civic Sunday service on 24th September 2023.
Christine Kettlety – Civic Award (Shuttle)
For services over many years to the Civic Society and Bollington Discovery Centre.
Fabienne Donbavand – Mayor’s Commendation for Services to the Community
For setting up and managing Bollington Borrowers, terracycle sorting and all her work on increasing recycling and reducing waste.
Beverley Needham – Mayor’s Commendation for Long Service in the Community
For many years of involvement with Bollington Brass Band, including acting as Chair for 20 years, and coaching band members to reach their full potential.
Steph Evans – Mayor’s Commendation for Services to the Community
For years of involvement with The Bollington Festival Players; acting in and directing many shows, casting, painting the sets, lighting and writing scripts.
Will Spinks – Mayor’s Commendation for Services to the Community
For leading on the restoration and refurbishment of the Water Street School.
Sandy Milsom – Mayor’s Commendation for Long Service in the Community
For years of voluntary service to the Bridgend Centre and as a Bridgend Buddy.
Phillip & Carole Bailey – Mayor’s Commendation for Long Service in the Community
For years of bearing standards at key community events such as Remembrance Sunday and the Kerridge War Memorial Parade.
Well Dressing team – Mayor’s Commendation for Long Service
For the team’s dedication to preserving the well dressing tradition and managing the week long festival.
Kim Creasey – Mayor’s Commendation for Long Service in the Community
For years of dedication to rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife and for over ten years’ service to Bollington Arts Centre.
Geoff Atkin – Mayor’s Commendation for Services to the Community
For many years of service to Bollington Arts Centre, co-founding the Bollington Beer Festival and as former treasurer of Bollington Festival.
David King – Bollington Based Business Award
For education on and treatment of dental care, including regular visits to all the Bollington Primary Schools to give advice.











Award Presentations 2022
Town Mayor for 2022-2023, Councillor John Stewart, presented Civic Awards and Mayor’s Commendations on 22nd October to those who were nominated by members of the public for the outstanding contribution that they make to Bollington.
