The Annual Meeting and Mayor Making took place on Tuesday May 11th 2021 in the Civic Hall, Bollington.

Councillor Johanna Maitland was appointed as Town Mayor for the Civic Year 2021/2022  during the first in person Annual Meeting & Mayor Making Ceremony since the start of the pandemic. The meeting took place in person as the Emergency Legislation which allowed for virtual meetings to take place during the pandemic had expired and was not extended by the Government.

The appointment was proposed by Councillor Roland Edwards and seconded by Councillor Amanda Stott and voted unanimously through.

The Mayor of Cheshire East, Cllr. Sarah Pochin, the Mayor of Poynton, Cllr. Lee Podmore, the Deputy Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr. David Edwardes and the Mayor of Congleton, Cllr. Denis Murphy, viewed the event via the live stream along with members of the public, past mayors and the friends and family of those involved. The Mayor of Knutsford, Cllr. Stewart Gardiner, attended in person. The Mayor of Cheshire East sent a personal message of congratulations to the new Mayor which was read out by the Town Clerk.

Cllr. Maitland joined Bollington Town Council in July 2019 and represents East Ward. Mr Andrew Maitland was invested as Consort and Charlotte Simpson was appointed as Town Mayor’s Chaplain. Cllr. John Stewart was elected as Deputy Mayor and Erin Vincent was invested as Mayor’s Youth Consort.
