An update on the community support scheme and fund
Since the creation of the Bollington Community Support Scheme to help our vulnerable or isolating residents we have seen our town show itself in wonderful colours. We now have a network of street wardens covering the majority of the town all of whom are looking after their nearest neighbours. We have a dedicated phone line to ensure no one slips through the loop and a Bollington Friends in Isolation scheme running alongside offering telephone support. We are also working in conjunction with other local agencies, the Medical Centre and wider initiatives in Cheshire East to ensure we help everyone we are able to and can refer for specialist help those who need more than we can offer.
We have set up a fund to compliment the street warden scheme, and thus ensure no resident struggles across this time either through hardship or simply lack of internet banking. The fund has quickly grown to a substantial sum and is now running smoothly under the constant care of Councillor Amanda Stott, in conjunction with the Town Council’s RFO Jennifer Brockbank. Amanda reports regularly to the whole council on donations in and payments out, it is heartening to learn that our residents are finding access to the fund is helping to ease their worries during this time.
We are very grateful to everyone who has donated to the fund and continues to do so. If there is any surplus once we are beyond the pandemic, then the council will agree how best to utilise any remaining funds in support of charities and initiatives that are beloved to our community.
If you wish to contribute to the fund there are 3 ways:
