Bollington marks the start of the partnership keeping the town's library open

Representatives of Bollington Town Council and Cheshire East Library Service gathered in Bollington Library on 28th January to mark the start of the agreement between the two organisations to preserve the Library’s opening hours. The event followed the vote by residents in support of the Town Council’s proposal to pay Cheshire East Council to maintain, instead of reducing the Library’s hours, via an increase in the precept paid by all Bollington Residents.

Cllr Judy Snowball, the Mayor of Bollington, spoke about the successful collaboration between the two councils on the Library and looked forward to developing the relationship further. Jenny Norton, Area Manager for the Library Service, welcomed the agreement and pointed to the community’s strong appreciation for the Library and its staff. Rachel Cutts, Bollington Library’s Senior Library Assistant expressed her and her colleagues’ gratitude to the residents for their support.

The event was sponsored by the Friends of Bollington Library, whose Chair, Sandy Milsom said that the Friends group would work together with the Town Council and the Library Service to take Bollington Library forward. She too expressed her thanks to the Bollington community, and she said the Friends group were looking forward to developing creative community-based events in support of library users.
