Bollington enduro cycling event
A new Biking event is coming to Bollington on 20th-22nd September!
It will be run from The Hub; land adjacent to the Old Slaughterhouse on Shrigley Road, so please be on the look out for even more cyclists than usual!
The Bolly Skyline is a Mountain Bike Enduro, which is an increasingly popular sporting activity. This is because of the combination of fitness and skill that are required, the intense excitement and the enjoyment of the relaxed environment that surrounds these events.
The Enduro will consist of 8 ‘stages’, which are timed descents. Competitors go as fast as they can on the stages. The winner is the person with the shortest cumulative time for all 8 stages. The cumulative time for the 8 stages for an average rider is likely to be about 15 minutes. The stages are all off road and on private land and are linked by ‘transitions’. The transitions are not timed; they use private land, bridleways and public roads. The total length of the enduro course including transitions will be about 25 km with about 1,200m of climbing and riders are expected to take an average of about three hours to complete the route.
Some competitors will take the race extremely seriously, but the aim is to make the event enjoyable for all. There will be a good variety of refreshments and live entertainment in the evenings plus a biking Expo with about 20 exhibitors.
Although there are no entries left, locals can still enjoy the action and fun by buying a wristband for £5. This will give entry to Unity Woods where you can watch the action on Saturday and Sunday and also access to The Hub on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where you can go to expo, eat delicious street food, have a drink and enjoy the music!
