D-Day 80th commemoration

Thursday 6th June marks the 80-year anniversary of the D-day landings, the largest Naval, Air and Land operation in history.

Communities across the country have been asked to support the commemoration. Bollington Town Council is marking the occasion with the lighting of a beacon next to White Nancy at 9.15pm in celebration of the ‘light of peace’.

You are welcome to join us and assemble at The Market Place from 9pm, where the Town Mayor will read The International Tribute, and from where the beacon can be safely viewed.

Road closure

To ensure a safe viewing point, we have a road closure in place around The Market Place off High Street (from the junction with Palmerston Road to the junction with Oldham Street) from 8.30pm to 10.00pm.
