Reach Out for Climate Emergency Action Planning
Bollington Town Council has declared a Climate Emergency.
We are reaching out to our residents, local town/parish councils, our Cheshire East Councillors and officers and our local Transition groups, activists and specialists to kick start the conversation about how to develop and implement a climate action plan. A plan not just for us, but for our neighbours too. We have invitiations to our neighbouring authorities, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, High Peak, as we share common resources.
The day is a sharing workshop day, designed to address a collaborative regional approach to climate change, seeking out current science, exploring individual actions, but seeking ways forward not just locally, but nationally with attendance from senior local government members and MP's. We have a couple of key speakers to prompt round table conversations that would benefit all our communities, with calls to action where needed. We recognise as a council that we can't do this alone, but we are committed to find solutions, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally and we would be grateful for your input and participation.
Our round table discussions will include:
Public Engagement in Climate Change
Local Authority Engagement and Action
Local and community Energy Generation
Sustainable and sufficient rural/semi urban transportation
Local agriculture and regenerative practice, including permaculture solutions
National and local planning frameworks
Future wellbeing for our communities
