First Story Wins Writing Competition

Former Town Mayor of Bollington, Alderman Peter Davies, has won first prize in a short story competition for people aged over 90. The work, entitled “Five Shillings” was his first story, having only recently started writing. The judges, who included Virginia McKenna OBE and Nicholas Owen, were unanimous in their decision to award Peter first prize.

The competition was run by the charity Growing Old Disgracefully whose aim is to provide inspiration for people to live life to the full as they grow older. At 98 years of age, Peter has demonstrated that it is never too late to try something new.
