Statement on household waste collection proposals
Following the Cheshire East Council Environment and Communities Committee meeting on 27th November, Bollington Town Council would like to express its disappointment that despite our protestations and misgivings, CEC has voted to continue with its plans to move from 2 to 3 weekly collection of black bins, with a vote of 7 to 6.
Following representations, particularly from Bollington Town Council, Bollington Ward Councillors and other members of the Bollington Community, CEC has agreed to retain 2 weekly collections from households that cannot use bins and use black bags for their residual waste.
CEC will be responsible for communicating the plans for implementation in the coming months. BTC will monitor the rollout of this initiative and welcomes any feedback from residents should significant issues arise for households.
BTC would like to express thanks to those members of our community that have assisted the Town Council on this issue over the last few weeks, including members of the Save Our Services group who have provided invaluable support and information.
BTC can also report that at the meeting the CEC Library strategy was supported and was pleased that Bollington was identified as a local council that had engaged constructively and successfully with both CEC and its community.
Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to an individual councillor or the Town Manager.
