A Big Thank You from the Town Mayor of Bollington
We all know someone who, over the course of the pandemic, has given up their time to support their community. This volunteering effort has taken many forms; shopping for and delivering groceries or collecting prescriptions has provided a lifeline to those who suddenly found themselves unable to do this for themselves. A friendly, socially distanced chat or listening ear has been equally important.
It is these acts of friendship and kindness offered by volunteers like you, over so many months, which has meant the most vulnerable in our community have had, not only the practical support to get through this most difficult of times but also the regular, friendly interaction to help them bear the loneliness and worry.
Some of these people registered as Community Support Volunteers, some looked at their friends and neighbours and reached out informally and some continued to support people they have supported for many years. They are the people who, in a crisis say, “What can I do to help?” and they represent the very best of Bollington.
So, a BIG THANK YOU from me and everyone at Bollington Town Council, for everything you have done and continue to do.
Cllr. Johanna Maitland
