Bollington Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Information Statement

A Referendum relating to the adoption of the Bollington Neighbourhood Plan will be held on 10 May 2018.

The question which will be asked in the Referendum is:

“Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Bollington to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

The Referendum area is identified on the map which is included with this information statement.

The Referendum area is identical to the area which has been designated as the Bollington Neighbourhood area.

A person is entitled to vote in the Referendum if on 10 May 2018

  • he or she is entitled to vote in a local government election in the Referendum area: and

  • his or her qualifying address for the election is in the Referendum area. A person’s qualifying address is, in relation to a person registered in the register of electors, the address in respect of which he or she is entitled to be registered.

The Referendum expenses limit that will apply in relation to the Referendum is £2723.14. The number of persons entitled to vote in the Referendum by reference to which that limit has been calculated is 6121.

The Referendum will be conducted in accordance with procedures which are similar to those used at local government elections.

  • A statement that sets out general information about town and country planning including neighbourhood planning and the referendum

  • This information statement.

NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
BOLLINGTON NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN AREA

Referendum on the adoption of the Bollington Neighbourhood Plan

  1. A referendum will be held on Thursday 10 May 2018 to decide the question below:

“Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Bollington to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

  1. Applications to be included on the register of electors for this referendum must be received no later than Monday 23 April 2018.

  1. Electors and their proxies should take note that:

Any changes to, or cancellations of, existing postal or proxy vote records, and new applications to be treated as postal voters, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by no later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 24 April 2018 if they are to be effective for this referendum. You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline.

  1. All new applications for proxy voting arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by no later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 1 May 2018, if they are to be effective for this referendum. You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline.

  1. All applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity, or for work/service reasons, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by 5.00pm on Thursday 10 May 2018 if they are to be effective for this referendum.

You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5.00pm on Tuesday 1 May 2018. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5.00pm on Tuesday 1 May 2018.
