Are you registered to vote?


Polling cards are being delivered to registered voters in the town. If you have not had yours yet and think you may not be registered to vote please visit the Cheshire East Website for information on how to register. Or call 0300 123 5016 if you need to speak to someone. Last date to register to vote Friday April 12th. See below the for the election timetable.

  • Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Friday 12 April 2019. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

  • Applications to vote by post and requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by 5.00 p.m. on Monday 15 April 2019 if they are to be effective for this election. You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline.

  • New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 24 April 2019 if they are to be effective for this election. You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline.

  • Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity, or for work/service reasons, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, either by hand at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1EA, or by post at the Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, c/o Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 2BJ by 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 2 May 2019 if they are to be effective for this election. You must allow sufficient time for posted applications to be received in the Elections Office by the deadline. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019.
