National Grid Pylon Work Flash Lane
The Town Council has received this communication from National Grid:
"The National Grid as an owner of critical national infrastructure, know that millions of people are relying on us, now more than ever, to keep the lights on and the gas flowing. We’re getting in touch to update you about our work to refurbish the overhead powerline that runs between our substations at Macclesfield and Bredbury.
During last year’s programme of works, we identified the need to repair and improve the foundations of some of the pylons on the line. We’ll be digging out the old foundations and replacing them with new ones.
Our contractors, Balfour Beatty, will be creating safe working areas around the pylons. You will see our team working in and around the base of the pylon and you will see more vehicles in the area to bring in equipment and our teams.
We have been working closely with land owners and will do everything we can to minimise any damage. If we do cause any damage we will put it right at the end of the works.
Our work does not require any planned power cuts and our team will be working during daylight hours with some weekend working when required.
We understand it can be unnerving to see others going about their daily work at this time. Our people who need to continue working on site and in the community are doing so under stringent health and safety measures to protect not just themselves but also the communities in which they operate, and these measures will be regularly reviewed.
To allow our teams to work safely we’ll be installing trackway to our pylon in the field south of Flash Lane next week along with setting up the working area, with works starting the following week for around 10 days.
If you or your members have any questions about our work then please do not hesitate to get in touch via this email or you can call us on freephone 0800 8199 071.
