Cheshire East Highways need to carry out treatment of the footbridge over the Silk Road and replace the walkway treads.

In order to do this safely the Silk Road will need to be closed. This will happen in 2 phases.

It is anticipated that from Wednesay 24th July the Southbound Carriageway will be closed between Ball Lane Roundabout and Brocklehurst Avenue Roundabout.

The closure will be in place between 09:30 -15:30. In addition to the closure during off peak hours on both lanes, lane 1 will be closed at all times between 24 July – 1 August followed by lane 2 being fully closed at all times from 2 August – 11 August.

The alternative route will be via the following streets: - Silk Road, Flash Lane Roundabout, London Road, Manchester Road, Dumbah Lane, Beech Lane, Hibel Road, The Silk Road and vice versa which is considered the most suitable route.

Then from 12th August the Northbound Carriageway will be closed from Brocklehurst Roundabout to Ball Lane Roundabout.

The closure will be in place between 09:30 -15:30. In addition to the closure during off peak hours on both lanes, lane 2 will be closed at all times between 12 - 21 August followed by lane 1 being fully closed at all times from 22 - 30 August.

The alternative route will be via the following streets: - The Silk Road, Hurdsfield Road Roundabout, Hibel Road, Beech Lane, Manchester Road, London Road, Flash Lane Roundabout, Silk Road and vice versa which is considered the most suitable route.

The lane closures will be in place 24 hours a day
