Where are the Glass Banks at Pool Bank Car Park?
Now that the Car Park has been remarked with 11 extra spaces, the glass recycling banks have suddenly been removed by Cheshire East Council because the contract providing them has expired. It would have been nice to have been given some warning and the opportunity to have a say. When we enquired at Cheshire East the answer was "they are not coming back". Decisive certainly but not very inclusive.
The argument, and it would have been nice to be on the other side of it, was that most of the glass was coming from local businesses and Bollington has a comprehensive household glass collection system. It also appears that almost all of the other banks housed in the enclosure, see photo, are so-called opportunist collectors who have slotted their banks in without permission. I am sure that some of these are providing much needed income for charity, however, an opportunity exists for removing the remaining banks or relocating some of them and providing much needed car parking spaces. We have already funded the markings for the 11 extra spaces and I am sure we would consider paying for the marking out of some more.
The Town Council could have an argument with itself on this matter but actually we do want to know what you think. We will also send Cheshire East a copy of this posting and our Bollingtonian which asked what residents think to show how this is done.
This is one of the topics at the Town Assembly on Tuesday 12th March at the Civic Hall 7.30pm. Either let us know at that event or email email@example.com with your view.
