Eclipses
Monday 14 October 2024
SciBar is science in a bar – an invited speaker gives a talk on a scientific topic while people enjoy a drink or meal, with a Q&A afterwards. Bollington SciBar takes place at the Vale Inn in Bollington.
At our October talk, Chris Sweetman from MaccAstro will answer the questions: What are eclipses? Where and how do you see them? Chris will also describe the story behind visits to 4 recent ones.
Please note this is a change to the previously advertised programme! We are grateful to Chris Sweetman for stepping in a short notice. Professor Danielle George’s talk is postponed to a later date due to a work commitment.
About the speaker: Chris Sweetman is an amateur astronomer and keen proponent of Outreach. Chris is a retired IT communications and network engineer and consultant who started his working life in the RAF as a radar technician.
He has been a member of MaccAstro for over 10 years and the current Treasurer. He assists in Outreach events for whoever asks for them and has spoken at the Bollington and Macclesfield SciBars on a number of occasions.
No charge, all welcome. Vale Inn, Adlington Road, talk begins 6.30pm. Details at bollingtonscibar.co.uk
